Our story & service focus
About Weakland’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc.
Serving Reno–Sparks and surrounding areas since 1991—built on family, training, and hands-on work.
We’re Weakland’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc., and we’ve been servicing the Reno–Sparks and surrounding areas since 1991. Our goal is simple: maintain complete customer satisfaction by providing consistent, top quality service.
If you’re here because you want to know who you’re inviting into your home (and who will be responsible for your comfort), you’re in the right place. We’re a family-run HVAC company, and we’ve built our name the old-fashioned way—by showing up, doing the work, and standing behind how it turns out.
How we started (and why we still do it the same way)
Our story starts with Kirk.
Kirk came to Reno in 1976 from Las Vegas, where he was born. During his senior year at Sparks High School, a scout visited his Auto class to talk about going into the heating & air conditioning trade—and that’s when Kirk decided this was what he wanted to do.
He graduated from Sparks High in 1983, then attended the Universal Technical Institute in Arizona, graduating in 1984. After that, he came back to Reno and went right to work for a prominent heating & air conditioning company for six years. During that time, he also trained in the 350 Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union for four years, graduating in 1988.
After leaving that company, Kirk became a service manager for a company in Carson City for five years. Then came the moment that changed everything: one day he came home and said, “If I am going to work this hard I am going to do it for myself.”
So in 1991, Kirk and his wife Anna started Weakland’s Heating & Air Conditioning.

A family business—so you always talk to family
When you call us, you’re not stepping into a maze of departments. At Weakland’s, you will always talk to family.
Anna came to Reno in 1968 from Winnemucca, Nevada. She attended Reno High and later worked as a seamstress at Washoe Medical Center (Renown) for seven years. She’s always loved the outdoors and hard work, and she even ran her own gardening company—Nature’s Touch—until 1995. Since then, she’s remained dedicated to Weakland’s Heating & Air Conditioning.
Anna never expected to love office work, but answering the phone and getting to know our customers—sometimes just by their voice—made her love it. She enjoys catching up with customers, and some people even call just to see how the girls in the office are.
Our daughter Shannon graduated from Galena High School in 2000 and has worked with the company since 1997. She attended UNR and TMCC, and today she’s the office manager of Weakland’s Heating & Air Conditioning. Her days are a mix of scheduling, crunching numbers, and chasing one (or both) of her boys around the office.
We’ve had customers with us since we opened our doors, and over the years many have become like family to us. That’s what happens when the people you call are the same people you talk to next year, and the year after that.
Owner-led bids and oversight
Hands-on service, not sales talk
We’ve never hired a sales person—because we believe you deserve real answers from someone who knows the work.
Kirk personally goes out on every bid and meets with customers to go over their needs. He then returns to do the job or make sure the crew understands exactly how he wants things done. If Kirk doesn’t do the job himself, he comes back when it’s finished to make sure it’s done to his satisfaction.
Even though Kirk spends hours in the office, he knows he’s best out in the field. Our customers love when the owner himself is there to take care of them. He’s on all of our jobs and can often be found with a flashlight in his mouth and a wrench in his hand.
And yes—HVAC really is a family tradition around here. Kirk (or “Papa,” as he’s known to his grandsons) sometimes brings one of them along on a bid or a late-night service call to help teach them the ropes.
What we do: residential and light commercial HVAC
We specialize in residential and light commercial heating, air conditioning, and ventilation.
Our specialties include building from the ground up, retrofits, all repairs, service, and preventative maintenance of all HVAC equipment. If you’re maintaining an older system, improving comfort in a remodel, building something new, or just need reliable help when equipment isn’t acting right—we’re here to help you move forward with confidence.
Our promise: consistent, top quality service
A lot of HVAC work happens out of sight—inside cabinets, above ceilings, behind panels. That’s why we take pride in the details and in doing things the right way.
Our goal has stayed the same since day one: complete customer satisfaction through consistent, top quality service. We want you to feel comfortable calling us, comfortable asking questions, and comfortable with the work we do in your home.
